 Paint Job

One of, if not the, most important part of this whole project was the paint job.  In my opinion, the paint job can't be taken lightly or "skimped" on.  It is the first thing you see when you look at the car and I wanted mine to be amazing.
So, in May of 2001, the five (5) week job began.  The task was taken on by D. Duncan Automotive Allentown, PA. The process began by removing all exterior accessories and trim.  This included ground effects, Click to Enlargeside view mirrors, weather stripping, etc. After all that was removed the shop began work on finishing the custom front nose and ram air hood.  Both of these pieces were aftermarket and made of fiberglas, so they needed more work.  After the fiberglas pieces wereprepped, the shop began sanding down the rest of  the car.  Most of the original paint was removed and stripped to bare metal.

After the base coat was applied the shop did some wet sanding and prepped for the clear coat to be applied.  When Click to Enlargeall was said an done the paint came out like glass.  It was a long 33 days to wait for them to finish, but it was well worth it.  The paint still has a nice 12"+ reflection depth and is silky smooth.  I use Zaino brand car care products to maintain the awesome job that D. Duncan did.
