The stock '92 nose cover had air deflectors that attached to the fenders. These deflectors then connected to the main radiator air damn under the car. The purpose of the air damn is to help cool the engine by forcing air up into the radiator. Aside from a functional aspect the fender deflectors also served as ground effects and allowed the car's body lines to flow more naturally.
I decided to keep the '92 style ground effects on my car, but when I replaced the front nose cover it kind of disrupted those body lines. Without the fender deflectors the fenders looked a little too high when compared to the door ground effects. (see picture).
I was able to get replica replacement fender deflectors from Ken at Wraith Innovations. www.wraithinnovations.com/
The pieces I got from Ken were of good quality and fit well. I had my body shop paint the deflectors and then I installed them in April '07. I think that now KITT-X's body lines flow more naturally from the fender back to the door ground effects.
